Yusuf Aref, MD

Dr. Aref is originally from Michigan. He graduated summa cum laude from Wayne State University in Detroit in 2012. He attended Rush University in Chicago for medical school, where he was awarded a scholarship for his academic achievements. There, he founded the Anesthesiology interest group, and successfully completed medical school in 2016. He went on to attend University of Illinois in Chicago for his residency training in Anesthesiology. Throughout his residency he took a strong interest in pain medicine and presented topics in anesthesiology at numerous conferences across the nation including the Midwest Anesthesia Residents Conference, American Society of Anesthesiologists, Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology. After successful completion in 2020, he went on to attend the prestigious University of Michigan for a fellowship in interventional pain management. After successful completion in 2021, he moved to the greater Cincinnati area where he joined one of the largest pain management practices in the area. There, he assisted in opening a surgical center geared towards providing the latest advanced treatment modalities in pain medicine. Prior to joining Southwest Florida Pain Center, Dr. Aref has worked in multiple cities across the United States and its territories providing anesthesia services for hospitals in need. He is licensed to practice medicine in dozens of states and is a member of multiple professional societies including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Spine Interventional Society, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain medicine. In 2022, he moved to Florida to join Dr. Ball and Dr. Valente at Southwest Florida Pain Center.
